The re-imagined Foothills Mall created a new town square community gathering place, both inside and out by featuring contemporary architecture designed to honor Fort Collins' vibrant, outdoor-centric and sustainability-minded community.
The goal of the Foothills redevelopment was to return the mall and surrounding area to its former status as a cultural and economic magnet for the surrounding community and broader northern Colorado region.
The site plan included a row of new shops along College Avenue, new parking deck, movie theatre, and public lawn designed to host casual gatherings and festivals throughout the year. In addition to a concert venue, an outdoor ice rink was installed to replace the lawn in winter. The City of Fort Collins also constructed a 24,000 sq ft, $4.8 million Foothills Activity Center on site.
